Project Details
Element is supporting the development of a recycled water supply scheme for the Port of Newcastle Clean Energy Precinct, helping to secure sustainable water resources essential for the precinct’s future clean energy production. The Port of Newcastle is undergoing a significant transformation into a leading clean energy hub. To support anticipated water demands of up to 22.6 ML/day for green hydrogen and ammonia production, Kooragang Water Pty Ltd (KW) is progressing plans for a recycled water supply scheme. The project proposes to source treated effluent from facilities within the Lake Macquarie region, supported by new infrastructure including bulk storage, pump stations, transfer pipelines, and a future advanced water treatment plant. This initiative plays a critical role in advancing circular economy principles and supporting potable water conservation, while enabling the Port of Newcastle’s clean energy ambitions.
