Project Detail
Element developed locally tailored communications strategies and collateral to support the NSW Government’s rollout of improved internet and mobile connectivity to rural and regional communities. The work focused on building awareness, trust and participation in communities where traditional and digital communication channels can be limited. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Regional Digital Connectivity Program is delivering upgraded internet and mobile infrastructure across regional NSW. Element supported communications for multiple communities across projects including the Gulargambone and Menindee Internet Connectivity project, the RCP3 Co-funded NSW Government project and the Regional Connectivity Internet Small Communities project.
Element Engagement
Element undertook community-specific desktop research and stakeholder mapping, identified local communication channels and trusted organisations and prepared Local Communications Action Plans for individual communities. Element developed tailored communications collateral including council and resident letters, newsletters, flyers, social media content and media materials, supported stakeholder databases and provided ongoing project communications coordination.
Project Achievement
Element developed place-based engagement strategies that recognised the practical challenges of communicating across small and dispersed regional communities, including unreliable mail services, limited digital connectivity and varying levels of digital literacy. Rather than relying on a single communications channel, Element identified trusted local institutions, community organisations, businesses, media and direct outreach opportunities for each location, creating a practical framework to improve awareness and encourage participation in the connectivity program.
