Project Details

Element has been engaged by Gwydir Shire Council to deliver a Housing Needs Assessment including a Community Engagement Strategy and resulting in a comprehensive Housing Strategy Report and Implementation Plan.

With the ongoing development of the Inland Rail and expansion of the industrial areas in Warialda, Gwydir Shire in northwestern NSW will attract workers and residents to the region. The Inland Rail and new industrial areas will generate significant new employment in Gwydir Shire and drive associated demand for housing and services in the surrounding areas. It is essential that Gwydir Shire Council plans for this growth and ensures that new, diverse and affordable housing is available to meet the needs of all current and future residents.

Element Engagement

Element worked closely with the Gwydir Shire Council, engaging stakeholders, and the wider community to deliver the Housing Needs Assessment on time, on budget and of high quality, including community engagement and public consultation. 

In delivering this the Local Housing Strategy, we lived by our values creating a culture of collaboration, integrity, excellence, trust and respect and fostering a growth mindset to be the go-to consultancy for Council.  

Project Achievements

The draft Plan was on public exhibition from mid-January to mid-February 2024. Council is currently preparing a public exhibition outcomes report.
