Senior Environmental Consultant
The Senior Environmental Planner/Scientist is responsible for managing and contributing to environmental impact assessments, planning approvals, and related projects. This role includes mentoring junior team members, ensuring project deliverables meet quality standards, and supporting business development initiatives. The Senior Environmental Planner will also engage with clients and stakeholders, providing expert advice and fostering strong relationships.

The Senior Environmental Planner will:
Project Management
- Manage and contribute to planning approvals, including Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Management Plans, Development Assessments (DAs), State Significant Developments (SSDs), other planning pathways, Part 5 Review of Environmental Factors (REFs), and Modifications.
- Provide environmental planning and technical advice to clients and the team.
- Identify environmental constraints and develop solutions for environmental issues.
- Ensure high-quality, consistent project deliverables that align with company standards.
- Stay updated on current standards, policies, legislation, and innovations.
- Manage resources and budgets effectively as required.
Clients
- Maintain strong client relations and stakeholder communication.
- Support business development through client engagement and excellent service delivery.
- Ensure repeat work through client satisfaction and high-quality service.
People
- Mentor and support junior team members to enhance their productivity and skills.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training initiatives within the team.
- Act as a role model, embodying the company’s values and promoting a positive work environment.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
Technical / Experiential Criteria
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Town Planning, or Environmental Engineering.
- 5 – 7 years of industry experience in waste management, circular economy, infrastructure, resource recovery, industrial, and renewable energy sectors.
- 5 – 7 years of experience in Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Management Plans, Development Assessments (DAs), State Significant Developments (SSDs), other planning pathways, Part 5 Review of Environmental Factors (REFs), and Modifications.
- Consulting experience is essential; candidates from council or government backgrounds may find the transition to consulting challenging.
- Strong technical knowledge across relevant environmental aspects.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and technically sound documentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and solve complex environmental issues.
- Proficient in Office 365 and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
